the girls have loved every minute of growing a vege garden from scratch. from getting the soil ready to planting the seeds to watering and fertilizing it to watching it grow to picking the harvest and most importantly loving eating it. tonight we had fresh basil pesto made from the girls basil with pasta and zucchini, also from the garden. it was yum and the girls ate 2 serves

i found a link on pinterest recently and thought it was a great way to tackle the clutter in my house

so i'm going to do it this year! that's right... i'm going to get rid of {sell, giveaway, recycle, throw out} 40 bags of STUFF from my house

and here's how i intend to tackle it

there are only 30 areas on my list as i'm sure some of my challenges are going to yield more than one bag and may take more than one day

so wish me luck...

i am grateful for giving myself the permission to breakdown

those who know know i am a strong woman who takes on a lot and always put others first

this past 2 weeks have been hard for me... i have put far to much pressure on myself and the cracks are showing... the list has been endless.... sick child, sleepless nights, the death of a friend, a separation, family issues, running the auction, dealing with impatient people, dealing with absolute tragedy at work, an increased workload at the hospital and no more hours to do it in, work meetings, missy melly orders through the roof, emails piling up, my own sickness that has led to terrible pain in my joints, pressure from friends and colleagues to deal with an issue, abuse, threats, a feeling of giving up, on top of my regular week which currently doesn't have much spare time in it

there obviously has been a lot of good as well but this week the pressure of it all has caused me to crack, caused me to have a little meltdown... i would normally feel bad about this but this week i have given myself permission to do it and not feel guilty and for that i am grateful

i am grateful for my hubby

he's so supportive and loving, always on my side, always allowing me to follow my dreams

but what makes me smile everyday is how he is so involved with the girls and i just love the little vege garden he and the girls have started... everything has been nurtured from seeds in pots in the laundry and when big enough moved out into the garden beds they have prepared outside

I am most grateful for my facebook detox

I took off over 48hrs with no Facebook no computer no iPhone. just quality time with myself, my girls, my hubby and my friends

I feel so rejuvenated. so clear. so refocused. so in control. amazing how much energy and time gets consumed on the computer.

I'm now taking time out every day and every week to be, to live, to be present, to do, to focus

we don't live excessively and are not materialistic at all, but this week i am grateful for living comfortably... my hubby and i work hard to provide for our family and i am so so glad that when we do want something or want to go somewhere we don't have to check our bank accounts to see if we can afford it

i have many friends who live from pay cheque to pay cheque... i have never been one of those people... i have always saved for a rainy day and it has flowed on to my adult life

when i was little and i got 20 cents i would put it in my money box and save for something i really wanted, my brother would spend it straight away on lollies :) he's still like that but his lollies are now cars and other materialistic crap

i hope my girls pick up this trait as it can serve you very well

i must admit it hasn't always been easy to look on the bright side but more and more i find it's the only way i look at things... its becoming a habit, something easy to do and natural

i am the first to admit that i spend a lot of time on FB.... i do run a business from it so that's why i am there a lot of the time and i do chat with friends too regularly.... i also waste a LOT of time!!

recently though i have been looking at peoples status updates {you really can learn a lot about people from them} and realise that so many people are addicted to it

you know the updates that tell you everything as it is happening

or when i was on a recent trip away with people i had met online and they couldn't switch off from FB for 2 days to actually really spend time with real people sitting there with them

it has always fascinated me... it used to just be the text messaging people that would be constantly doing that rather than actually doing what it is that they are texting about

i have a friend that will be out and will be texting the whole time about what a great time she is having... um how are you have a such a great time when you are on the phone the whole time???

i think FB is awesome... it has allowed me to start a business and build it too a high level of success but i am very grateful for the ability to still switch off to it all and spend entire days/weekends without logging in to see whats going on

it's got my wondering why can't we switch off?? is facebook like an umbilical cord or a noose?? would love to hear your thoughts :)

.... yes i know it's still freezing outside!! but in this business that is clothing you need to be ahead... and as this is only my 2nd year in business it's taking me awhile to get used to it

it's really true... another one opens {even if i had to build the door myself and then open it}

sometimes i wonder about this and think do things really happen for a reason, but the events of the last 2 weeks have shown me that they really do!!

i've moved from a frame of mind, that is usually so positive and recently become sapped of this positivity, back to the real me... i am feeling full of life again!!

the melly's were up for a bit of baking yesterday morning so we made some cookies... i had seen this recipe before but a reminder on fatmumslim"s blog the other day had it fresh in my mind

it's too easy really

1 can of condensed milk
500g butter
5 cups self raising flour
1/3 cup caster sugar

cream the butter and sugar then add the condensed milk
then add this to the flour and mix well

roll into little balls and pop on a lined baking tray
flatten out a little

bake for 14 minutes at 180C

we made some plain ones, some with smarties on the top and some jam drops

this makes an enormous amount of cookie dough so i wrapped half of it up and popped it in the fridge and we'll bake again this week

these were so easy for the kids to get involved with and best of delish!!

this week has been a bit of a shit!! but i am feeling very grateful for my ability to pull my socks and not just move on but move forward... i've had a fab few days creating a group for like minded positive women in business and the response has been fabulous so far... i'm very excited, inspired and thankful for the group, the women and their support

well as you may know i went away with a group of women i had "met" online for the daylesford craft experience last weekend...

i have written a huge blog post about this but have left it in my drafts section as that is the right thing to do... i don't like the idea of censoring my blog but this is how it must be for now

that once again my gut instinct was right
that i won't be doing it again
that i was surprised by some
that there were 3 very talented ladies featured at the retreat
and that i figured out that i am a business woman who happens to craft not a crafts woman who happens to be in business

i haven't been to daylesford in years... it's such a beautiful little country town full of gorgeous scenery, shops, food and equally gorgeous locals... and this time round it didn't disappoint.... an on top of that all... they now have the lark store

we popped in on our way home from the craft retreat {which i will blog about later} and spent easily over half an hour just browsing

its such an inviting little shop

my purchases included these cute little lunch bags for my girls which are made from 90% recycled plastic

and these matching pencils

the girls loved their pressies

i also bought this book to make them some other goodies

and i could have spent a lot more!!! here are a few of my other favourites

♥and today i was so so excited to get my hands on a copy of the winter edition of My Child magazine because my cherry wallflower reversible jacket has been featured as part of their winter fashion shoot... there it was... a whole page feature!!! i'm so blown away... here's my dodgy iphone pic that i took :)

i posted on my facebook page last sunday about reflecting on what you are grateful right now... as the sun sets on another weekend... i practice daily gratitude but thinking about things on a sunday night can set you up for a great week

so right now i'm grateful for my ability to just keep going... we've all been sick here, but life goes on.
as an intensive care nurse i know that even though i've got a terrible cold that it is just that... a terrible cold. the world is so full of whinging about the little things in life... the sniffles that yes may go on for weeks... but take a step back and look at the bigger picture... you will get better and life will go on... this is not the case for a lot of people

i'd love to hear what you are grateful for right now

the last few weeks have been full of ups and downs

we've been to visit my new baby niece, spent time with my brother, his fiance and friends while on holiday, had a young death in the family, lots of fun times with the girls, a bad night of illness with miss m, a bit of quiet time with missy melly, and then a truck load of orders, the big launch of the missy melly/ winnie&clem made to match winter range, fantastic news for missy melly {to be announced soon}, the boys line logo, working on the new website, dealing with some very unprofessional and upsetting behaviour, celebrating birthdays, meeting new friends.... the list could go on and on

so i'm choosing to focus on the highs and work towards creating more

those who know me know that i am usually so full of emotion but over the weekend i had a weird experience of feeling emotionless

a while back i wrote about contacting my dad after not seeing him for 18 years and this saturday just gone i met with him whilst holidaying with my family. it wasn't one on one, we met for a group lunch

i wasn't sure how the day would play out but one thing that surprised me was the complete lack of emotion i felt. i wasn't happy, sad, angry, overwhelmed, content... not one emotion

i'm not sure where things will go from here. maybe too much water has gone under the bridge?

i didn't get time to write a post yesterday as we were recovering from the girls 3rd birthday party on sunday and celebrating their actual birthday :)

yes my little ladies have turned 3!!

3 years has passed so quickly and i still remember the day i found out i was pregnant and then the BIG day we found out we were having identical twins, to the day we found out they were girls... it was a rollercoaster of a pregnancy when a lot of the time were just weren't sure they were going to make it

but then on the 11th april 2008 our girls were born at 37 weeks, naturally, which is nearly unheard of for identical twins with the problems ours had!!

so here are a few pics of them over the past 3 years

i'm often heard in my house saying things like "i just flick this and wala LIGHT!!!" "i push this and here come the heat" "how amazing is in that i just pop the kettle on and i can have a cuppa in a minute"

yes my family think i'm nuts, but i am still to this day so grateful for the things that make our lives easier

We will be working on 3 main colourways over the next few weeks to get our stock ready for our photoshoot on the 19th of April.

ANOTHER weekend at work for me and i'll tell you what... i'm getting very tired of it
i am grateful for my job but i'm missing my family time

i was vegetarian from the age of 14 until i became extremely anaemic when i was pregnant with my twin girls
my favourite food is japanese and i detest chinese food
i did work experience in china for 2 months after finishing my acupuncture degree
i miss having a dog
the beach is my favourite place, my plan is to live within a 5 minute walk within the next 7 years
i got married in thailand and a baby elephant was at out wedding to bless our marriage
i taught myself to sew in november 2009 and started missy melly in april 2010

this week i'm grateful to stop and actually look in the mirror

you see i've been avoiding the mirror for quite awhile now, i don't look in it at all, i'm disgusted at what is staring at me...

i know that i am beautiful on the inside, i know i am a fabulous person, wife, mumma, friend etc etc

i know that the superficial me doesn't matter

thats not what i'm talking about

i'm disgusted that i've let myself go and i am so unhealthy, i'm overweight and unfit. i'm so disgusted this is the role model i am being for my daughters and that makes me cry

this is what i'm talking about

i owe it to myself to look in the mirror and SEE what is there and stop denying it and FIX it

this is my life and i want to live a healthier one than i currently am

i'm sick on the excuses i make for myself

i finally put batteries in the scales, took note of the number, had a good hard look at myself and changed how i'm doing things... this started on monday and here i already am at the end of the week feeling better about myself

some times being grateful means looking at the bad in your life and being grateful that you can change it before its too late

i'm exhausted after a big weekend

friday night the girls had a sleep over at nana and pa's so my hubby and i popped out for margaritas and mexican.... yummmmmm

i had to work saturday at the hospital but we had a bit of cubby house fun in the back yard after work

sunday i was up early to take my missy melly goodies to the market. it was a great day... i'm always so inspired by all of the gorgeousness at the boutique markets

then home to unpack and have some dinner

hope you all had a great weekend... i'm stuffed... going to put my feet up and watch some dirty dancing

this week i'm writing about something that is on my graitude list every day and i'm well and truly reminded of it at bath time....

♥ i am grateful for not having to walk kilometres with buckets on my head to get it

i love my weekends off... and i REALLY needed this one, i needed some time to reconnect with my family as a whole.

friday was spent at the pool with my inlaws, sister in law, nephews and my girls... we had such a great time

saturday we headed off early for breaky with the girls... they stuffed their faces with pancakes, eggs, bacon, mushies, hash browns, toast and strawberries... there was hardly anything left for us

we then headed off for a spot of shopping and a big play at the playground

my hubby and i both had a quick neck and shoulder massage at the local chinese massage place then home to hit the garden

we spent the rest of the afternoon weeding, mowing, whipper snipping, pruning and playing with all of the bugs and snails that we found

finished off with a barbie for tea and the girls washed and settled into bed, we spent a few hours chatting on the couch, then snuggled into bed with sore muscles... aahhhhh

sunday we had raspberry and apple pancakes for breaky and then headed straight down to the beach for 3 hours of playing in the sand and swimming before it got too hot. we hung out at home in the afternoon and watched a DVD, had lots of snuggles and i managed to get a little sewing done.

My daily ritual of gratitude has been working over time lately… I’ve got soooo much to be grateful for.

I’ve decided to document more regularly on my blog and thought what better way than to join in on the gorgeous maxabella’s blog, which I read regularly.

Each week I will focus on one thing I’m grateful for and this week it’s

TIME

I will often be heard saying I wished I had more time and yes I guess I do but I am so grateful for the time I have right now.

Grateful to have another day to live on this magnificent planet

But mostly I am grateful that although I have 3 jobs on top of being a wife and mumma I am still able to care for my children full time. My girls started 3 year old kinder 2 weeks ago and I’m so proud of the fact that we, as a family, have managed to look after the girls ourselves up until then. This was something that was important to us when we decided to have children and to have actually achieved it is amazing. I know that this is not something that is possible for some or not important to some.

This time with my girls I am ever so grateful for… they grow so quick and I’m glad I haven’t missed many minutes with them
